Here at Green Vend we are based in Northern Ireland, and we are a leading supplier and installer of bottle deposit machines. As an established business we are suitably placed to deliver and maintain these machines nationwide and to provide you with a dedicated aftersales service.
All our bottle deposit machines are CE certified and built with dependability and longevity in mind. Our machines are manufactured to the specifications as set out by the scheme operator and fully deposit return scheme ready. Our machine's compact size minimises its required floor space and along with its sleek modern design means the machine fits nicely within any business environment.
What we do
From October 2027 there will be a new deposit return scheme in place for Northern Ireland. This will involve consumers paying a 20 pence charge on all plastic bottles and metal cans at the point of purchase in the form of a refundable deposit. This deposit will be redeemable by the consumer when they return their empty container back to the supermarket or to a designated return point.
The governmental implementation of this new scheme is to help tackle the litter crisis whilst also increasing recycling rates. The government's goal of the scheme is to increase recycling rates by 90 percent across the UK. The scheme will encourage greater environmental friendliness and create a more circular economy.
The concept of a deposit return scheme has existed for decades and evidence from more than forty other countries around the world shows that these schemes do work in helping to reduce litter and increase recycling. An additional 15 countries have declared intentions to implement a deposit return scheme. This expansion means that by the year 2030 nearly a billion people in the world's most developed nations will participate in these recycling schemes.
Within the scheme's framework it will be mandatory for all retailers and sellers of the levied containers to act as return points. This will require infrastructure changes such as installing a bottle return machine as outlined in the scheme.
To assist with the successful rollout of the scheme, the government has set aside grant funding for businesses towards the purchase of a bottle deposit machine. This grant will be paid out over a term period. This grant, along with a scheme-funded handling fee, means the unit will be self financing.
